It's been a week of counting stitches, knitting, frogging, re-counting stitches, re-knitting, re-frogging and counting again. But I finally have something to show for my efforts. Go easy on me, it's my first attempt at designing any pattern and a sock pattern at that. It's not perfect, but few things in life are:
There were a few issues that I could solve, like the extra row of st st to take away from the ugly colour bands that appeared when you purl stitch in many colours and others that I have had to take some artistic license with. The biggest of which lies in the pattern repeats. The Fair Isle pattern repeats across 11 stitches, so it cuts short on the last repeat. And the basket weave pattern repeats across 8 stitches, so I've had to leave more stitches on for the foot than the patterns I have seen.
However, here's proof that the sock fits on nicely - perhaps I have a non-standard foot.

Very cute! How many stitches did you cast on? Just curious since you said its more than other socks...

I love those socks and will most likely copy them for a pair!
And ... at least until the finals ... I'm rooting for the Canucks. After 1999, when Dallas had the infamous "foot in the crease" in Game 6, I absolutely hate the Stars. Greedy &O((***&s!

Hey Asa - the sock pattern is looking great. I like the way you used the contrasting brown yarn on the heal, it matches nicely with the cuff. Are you going change colors at the toe as well? Looking forward to next installment of the sock.

I've designed a few socks and I'll tell ya, after the 1st one, you can almost design them in the dark! What a lovely sock!!! I think you are doing a great job! It's not unusual for the # of sts to change in patterns...why not socks?! The fit is what counts, yes?!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Blue Knitter...seems to me like we are all pretty nice, don't you think?!
