Shawl Glory

We're back from our vacation at the cabin. Weather was wonderful and it was super relaxing. Now all I need is the telephone line, so I can check out your knitting blogs more regularly and an antenna for the TV and it'll be home from home.

And boy have I been knitting. First, I finished the shawl, but I haven't blocked it yet. Blocking this delicate shriveled up mass of lace is rather daunting so I will do it in my own time. Hopefully soon.

In the meantime, I have worked the back and the two front panels of the cardigan for my niece. They don't look very exciting, just pink st st pieces, so I didn't think you'd be too interested in seeing those.

My biggest accomplishment is the shawl for my mother. It was really frustrating getting it going, frogged about four times before I got it right, but now I'm truly on my way.

It's a rectangular shawl with buttons down the lower fronts, so that she can also wear it as a poncho. And, unlike the last project I "made up", I'm writing down the instructions this time. So, if you want the pattern, let me know and I'll e-mail it to you.

Wow, such progress! I am looking forward to shawl pics.

Way to make good use of your vacation...I just need one more and I might finish my shawl before the end of the year!

twig:

Welcome home. What great progress.

Wow, you are cruising right along! Goes to show how much knitting can be accomplished when you aren't glued to the TV - I'll have to try that someday. :)

welcome back! :) you've been missed! you're done with your shawl?? Can't wait to see it. Will you be using blocking wires or pins? jw. I like that your mom's shawl is so versatile. She can go from shawl to poncho to 5 seconds flat. ;) Love it!

Glad you had a great time! The shawl is looking good!

Jen:

The shawl looks great! :)

Glad you had a good time.

The rectangle shawl looks great--sorry that the start was so much trouble. Looking forward to seeing the blocked triangle shawl photos!

Hi,
Thanks for the comment! Yes, lots of projects coming my way...way too many of them actually! You mentioned you were on Ravelry...I think I probably have the largest queue of anyone there. But when I see something I like, I can't help but queue it!
Must say I'm very envious of your cabin - very beautiful place to relax and just be. I have a deep desire to live in Montana someday (currently in hot, sweltering Arkansas) and I love the view you posted! Just beautiful...as is the shawl you're working on. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Hi! I just came across you vai Blogexplosion, and have Blogmarked you for later (if I can figure out how that works!). Anyway, a bloggy friend of mine is recruiting knitters/crocheters to help make quilts for children with cancer that attend Camp Sanguinity in Fort Worth, TX every year. I can't seem to get the link to work here, but there is a button on the right hand side of my blog that says Share A Square. Click on it and it will take you to her blog for more details and instructions on how to make the squares, if you are interested! Thanks:-)

And I can't wait to see the triangle shawl stretched out. That's a great idea for your mother's shawl. I'd love the pattern for it--thanks for offering!

I'm glad to hear you had a nice and relaxing vacation! You really did make a lot of knitting progress! Can't wait to see the blocked shawl!

I like the shawl! And yes, I would love the instructions. My 96 year old granny just told me she would like someting knitted for Christmas. That look like just the thing!
